Husbands?!

Have you ever been in the situation where you wanted your husband to care about something, but he doesn't?

Tonight I went to a Ladies' Night thing for my church. It was great to begin with. We were served nachos and Mexican style desserts. We were chatting away at our tables and having a great time.

They then divide us up and half go upstairs for some salsa lessons while the rest of us watch a movie until it is our turn. The only problem, in my opinion, is the movie has an issue. The language in it, I do not feel, was appropriate for the type of gathering we are having. There are young teenage girls there and it has some really coarse. They use 'Jesus' once and 'God' more than that.

I come home and I am a little stirred up by this. I am not in leadership, so this was not my choice. Is it wrong of me to desire my leaders to be a little more mindful of those that will be attending? Even more concerning to me, is the fact that my leadership might think this is an okay thing to show?

I want my husband to talk this out with me. He says, "I wasn't there. I do not know what I would think." Does anyone else's husbands offer that type of cop out response. Then he finally says that he agrees it should not be shown, but then he decides to tell me that I am wrong to take offense. Well the conversation goes downhill from there. I ask him, "What do you think I should do?" He says, "Do whatever. I do not care."

I just wanted someone to listen, but I become frustrated when he says he 'does not know' or 'I don't care.'

I know I am whining. I am probably PMSing and this will not be an issue tomorrow, but do you ever have these moments?

Oh girl!!! I have soooo many of these moments I am laughing with empathy for you! :) My hubby and I are opposites! He is the total "man" - doesn't talk about stuff - I am TOTAL "woman" MUST process verbally!!! Needless to say, I must usually take my conversation needs to my sister or girlfriends - or my blog! LOL

As for them not caring about things that matter to us - I can relate! It really bugs me that my hubby doesn't read my blog. Good grief some of my FRIENDS' husbands read my blog. But not my man. Maybe once or twice after I guilted him about it. It just isn't his thing. He just doesn't get to into my emotional stuff. It drives me nuts, but oh well. he is still a great husband all in all!!! :) As I am sure your is too! :)

THANKS so much for your prayer at my blog. Totally wonderful! I need these prayers tonight!!!

I think that we all have this happen with our husbands on occasion. I think that you each may be more/less sensitive to different issues than th e other. It is frustrating though when you want to express yourself and your husband won't listen. It happens here in our house sometimes too.

Jess--
you know what--when you are PMSing, everything seems complicated. That I know. :)

Having said that, there are many things that have come up in my life that I care deeply about and will mention it to my husband, and he will say--"it's not a big deal". Sometimes that irritates me, but a solution is to perhaps bring those kind of concerns to a lady friend and discuss it, where you are more likely to get the kind of response you want. Sometimes all you want is just to be sympathized with, and sometimes our husbands don't see things the way we do--that is ok--but don't be mad at them or anything, just take it to someone else.

As far as what you are talking about, I agree completely. :) To watch a movie in a church setting that has language and says "oh my g-d" and things is not appropriate. There would be better movies. I would bring it up to the leadership if I were you, it is a valid point. :)

Ladies,
Thank you so much for responding to my cry for understanding last night. It felt so good to wake up this morning and see I had comments for my blog. They were all encouraging. Yes, my husband is a great husband, just not female sometimes. Why is that? Blessings on all of you today.

Oy, I agree! That movie was completely left field! Even aside from the fact that it was completely inappropriate, I was thinking- all these ladies want to do is talk and hang out, we don't want to have to sit and stare at the television! I can do that by myself! It's not often I get to get away with just the girls and talk!
